Konstantinos Kallaris was born in Athens in 1858; his family roots were in Psara. He took part in the Greco-Turkish War of 1897 and the First Balkan War, where he gained particular renown for his victorious operations during the Battle of Bizani. He was wounded at the Battle of Kresna during the Second Balkan War. Holding the rank of Lieutenant General, he assumed command of the 1st Army Corps when the Army Corps were established in 1914. He was appointed Minister of Military Affairs in 1916 and resigned in 1918. He lost two sons on the battlefields. He died in Athens in 1940.
