Spyridon Kaissaris, Royal Dinner Music Program March 30, 1918

On March 30 1918, King Alexander hosted a dinner in honour of the French Ambassador, Mr. De Bigy, with music by Spyridon Kaissaris. The dinner was attended by the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Admiral Kountouriotis.

Spyridon Kaissaris was a great Greek composer.

He was born in Corfu in 1859 and was assigned to the military music of Athens, where he rose to prominence relatively quickly. In 1888 he became chief musician of the artillery and in 1892 professor at the Athens Conservatory and for several years director of the military bands. He retired in 1922.
