Spyridon Mourikis (1918-1989) served in the battleship Averof during World War II, participating in operations in the Middle East, the Mediterranean, the North Atlantic, etc. He held important positions in the Navy, served as Chief of the General Staff and retired as a vice admiral and was awarded the title of Honorary Chief of the General Staff.
