Nikolaos Krasadakis, MP, minister, mayor and prisoner of Asia Minor

Nikolaos Krasadakis (1899-1971) attended the Gymnasium of Heraklion and then studied Law in Athens. He interrupted his studies in order to fight in the army as a volunteer, as he did, in the Balkan Wars and then in Asia Minor as an officer.He was captured by the Turks and contracted typhoid fever, was severely tortured and was saved thanks to the intervention of a Turkish-Cretan doctor, who realized that he was alive while being transported in a cart for burial. With the exchange of populations, he returned to his homeland and completed his studies. He had a rich political career where he served as deputy minister, minister, member of parliament and Mayor of Heraklion.

This document is handwritten by Nikolaos Krasadakis and is meant for the President of the Reserve Officers' Association, on February 3, 1926. It states that upon his return from his captivity in Asia Minor, he was not registered in any army service and had not received the salaries to which he was entitled as a reservist.
