Ioannis Sotiriou Alexakis (1885-1980) originally from Exo Potamos of Lasithi, was a military man, law graduate and historical writer. He fought in the two Balkan Wars, the First World War, the Asia Minor Campaign and the Second World War. In 1912 he was the first Greek officer to enter Thessaloniki at the head of a regimental division (1st Independent Cretan Battalion) on 26/10/1912.
