The Corfu Protocol was signed on May 17, 1914, between the president of the "Autonomous Republic of Northern Epirus" Georgios Christakis-Zografos and the Albanian government, which was headed by Prince Vid. With its signature, the armed conflicts between Albanian gendarmerie-riots and Northern Epirus ended and the autonomy of Northern Epirus was recognized along with a number of rights for the local population.
