Sirrako participated in the Greek Revolution of 1821 led by Ioannis Kolettis and together with neighboring Kalarrites were the only villages of Epirus that participated in the revolution during its first year.

The revolution in the area was quickly suppressed by forces of Hursit Pasha and the village burned to the ground. It was rebuilt between 1825-1828 and in the following years it regained economic power. Sιρρακο was liberated by the Greek Army on November 23, 1912, during the Balkan Wars.
