At the 1960 Rome Olympics, Crown Prince Constantine won the Gold Medal by participating in the Greek Sailing Team as helmsman of the boat ''Nireus'' in the ''Dragon'' category. His crew included Odysseas Eskitzoglou and Giorgos Zaimis. This was the first Olympic gold medal for Greece since 1912.
