Late 19th - early 20th century beautiful and elegant fan by J. Duvelleroy in silk and mother of pearl with hand painted angels. Each stick is decorated with an angel and a number from 1 to 12, indicating the ''meeting hour'' in the secret language of fans accordingly to the way it was showed.

The fan shows damages, tear and wear, is sensitive and needs to be handled delicately. Has signs of repairs and glue.

The box has signs of tear and wear.

The Duvelleroy house of fans was founded in 1827 by Jean-Pierre Duvelleroy in Paris. At some point in the 19th century a branch was opened in London in Regent street. The Duvelleroy house of fans in Paris is still in business today.
